Extra pets, people and detailed
backgrounds quoted separately.
If you live in Calgary, I will take photos for you at no extra charge (ne, central, mid-se, mid-nw) or to cover petrol, a minimal
charge for remaining Calgary and outlying areas.
Prices are in Canadian Dollars, single
black/brown archival matte. Mailing costs will be at the expense of the customer
and various options can be discussed (courier or land) at time of
purchase.
A 50% deposit is required prior to
starting a portrait. I accept cash or money orders in Canadian
funds. For international clients this could be mostly a bonus for you!!
Estimate from start of portrait is
approximately 4-6 weeks dependant on order. Rush orders may incur additional
fees. However, I don't encourage a rush order as it could effect the final
outcome of the portrait.
Orders are based on a
waiting list. Please order early to ensure that you get your portrait in time
for that special day. Example, Christmas orders are 6-7 months in advance.
The folks that send their deposit and are cleared, are the next to get on the
list. This is only fair to all that are interested. However, don't
despair, inquire about my gift certificate or pre-portrait to give while
you are waiting for your portrait to be completed. It is very
popular and fun too! Because then you can tell your recipient to watch the
progress of the portrait on my website if you choose this option.
I guarantee due to my clients responses
that you will be overwhelmed with the final portrait. And I strongly inform my
clients, for those that I am unable to take pictures of, that my finished
portrait will be as good as the pictures they send me. I believe my website
shows exactly what you get, so there are no surprises. However, if by chance you
are not satisfied, I will do my utmost to make any changes (not additions) to
rectify the situation. If you still are not pleased I will refund your deposit
and keep the portrait.
Photo Tips
The best way to capture your pets
spirit, is to take the photo at home and when they are doing whatever they do
best. Playing in a park, snoozing on the couch, waiting for someone, or curious
about something. It is these attributes that you find endearing and would like
to see memorialized.
Best is not to shoot directly into the light. If you can, choose an overcast day
to stay away from dark shadows. Stay away from flashes as it alters the color
and causes redeye.
Take full body and facial shots of your
pet at various levels and angles. Full frontal shots are not necessarily the
best shot. Slightly faced to an angle is best. If you need someone to hold your
pet, ensure that they place their arms over areas that do not have important
markings.
Most importantly portraits require a clear, sharp
image, especially the eyes. The eyes are the window to the soul, therefore
they should clearly define the iris (color if required) from the pupil.
Sometimes, if you take pictures with a
digital camera you may very well have the information I need. I can manipulate
the contrast and color, but you should have at least one photo of the pose you
want in its best color and clarity. Just remember the quality of my portrait is as good as the quality of the photo submitted.
Because the copyright
remains with the artist, it is only the artist that is permitted to use the
copy/photo of portraits made in commission to promote her art for prints,
stationary, website and advertising. Clients wishing to replicate the portrait
for any (including, but not limited to: publications, corporate identities,
stationary, advertising or website usage) other intended use must inform the
artist before the completion of the portrait.
